The editor's brief

01. Pick a contest

Open the app and pick a contest shape. Head-to-head is one team versus one team; small leagues run between three and ten teams; grand leagues run into the hundreds. Pick the shape that matches how confident you are in your read on the night.

The entry fee is the floor of your stake. Verify the payout structure on the contest card before you commit — winnings are calculated off the published prize pool, not your entry fee.

02. Build your XI

You have 100 credits and eleven players. The credit cost is shown next to every name. Pick a captain (2× points) and a vice-captain (1.5×) — they must be different players.

Stay inside the role rules: most contests cap you at seven batters, four bowlers, one all-rounder and one wicket-keeper. The XI shape is enforced at lock-in.

03. Read the points system

Points come from runs, boundaries, sixes, half-centuries and strike-rate thresholds on the batting side, and from wickets, maidens, economy floors and strike-rate ceilings on the bowling side. Fielding points come from catches, stumpings and run-outs.

The captain slot multiplies the player's points by 2, and the vice-captain by 1.5. The full table is on the homepage and inside the app.

04. Lock your team before toss

You can edit your XI until the official lock window — usually five minutes before the toss. After lock, the team is frozen and points start counting ball-by-ball.

Late trades are tempting; we recommend locking an hour before toss and walking away. Late edits driven by rumoured XIs collapse more teams than they save.

05. Track the live scoreboard

Inside the app, every over updates your team total. The live rows on the editor's brief are illustrative — the authoritative scores live in the app and refresh within seconds of every ball.

Bookmark the scoreboard section of the homepage for the working read while the match is in flight.

06. Withdraw winnings to UPI or bank

Win your first contest and the payout sits in your in-app wallet. Withdraw to a UPI handle (fastest) or to a verified bank account. KYC re-check is automatic the first time you cross the withdrawal threshold.

Editor's working checklist

Before you treat any number on this page as final, run this short checklist. The checklist is the same one the editorial desk uses before publishing a captain pick note — adapted for the reader rather than the writer.

  1. Open the app first. This site is a brief; the app is the source of truth. Verify any number that drives a paid decision inside the official Player11 app.
  2. Check the date stamp on this page. Numbers and rules change between seasons. If the page has not been refreshed in over a season, treat every figure as historical.
  3. Check the state eligibility list. Even if your account is in good standing, a state change can move paid contests to read-only. The in-app eligibility list is the source of truth.
  4. Read the FAQ on this page. The FAQ is where the editorial team answers the questions readers send in most often. If your question is not there, write to customer care.

Compliance and editorial disclaimer

Player11 is a real-money skill-based fantasy product. Paid contests require KYC, an 18+ age gate and a verified payment method. State-by-state rules apply; verify your eligibility inside the in-app Legal screen before paying any entry fee. This page is editorial commentary — it does not run contests, accept deposits, or process withdrawals.

If the entertainment stops being fun, set a self-exclusion timer in the app (Profile → Responsible Play) or write to the support team for a longer cool-off period. We treat responsible play as a non-negotiable first step for any new reader.

Reader questions

Do I need to deposit money to learn?

No. Most contests let you watch the scoreboard without joining a paid contest. We recommend building a few test XIs on free contests before paying an entry fee.

Can I edit my XI after lock-in?

No. Once the contest locks (usually five minutes before the toss), the team is frozen for the entire match.

What happens if my player is dropped from the playing XI?

Their points go to zero for that contest. Some contest types credit a substitute; most do not. Always check the playing XI before the toss.

Where do I see my contest history?

Open Profile → My Contests in the app. It lists every contest with entry fee, finish position and payout.
